"The Fishing Boy" is a paper-cut cartoon made by the Shanghai Fine Arts Film Studio in 1959 based on the folklore of the same name that was circulated in the fishermen folk after the Opium War and before the Boxer Movement collected by Zhang Shijie. The short film is directed by Wan Guchan and written by Yu Hejing.

The film mainly tells the story of the old fisherman's grandfather who appeared in the white marble fish basin that the old fisherman's grandfather raised from the sea to help the fishermen punish the local corrupt officials and foreign priests.
