The Nine-Colored Deer
"Nine-Colored Deer" is adapted from the story of the Dunhuang mural "The Deer King Bensheng" and was produced in 1981 by the Shanghai Fine Arts Film Studio, China. Qian Jiajun and Dai Tielang acted as the directors, and Pan Jiuzi acted as the screenwriter. The film adopts the form of Dunhuang murals and uses the style of ancient Chinese Buddhist paintings to tell that the nine-color deer often helps people who are in trouble. After helping the snake-render, the snake-render informs the king and betrays the nine-color deer and the nine-color deer. A story about the use of divine power to overcome the danger, and the story of the snake-stalker receiving due retribution.
