When China's first art film began to be screened, it was decided that China would leave a glorious mark in the history of world animation. Chinese fine art films were born in the early 1920s. The first batch of Chinese fine art films were filmed by the "Wan Brothers" in Shanghai. Among them, the most influential feature film "Princess Iron Fan". In 1947, people's artist Chen Boer and Japanese animation expert Chinaga Jihito completed the filming work under the conditions of insufficient staff and simple equipment, and made important contributions to the development of new Chinese art films. In 1957, Shanghai Fine Arts Film Studio was established. Cartoonist Te Wei became the first director. Representatives of the three Wan brothers, a group of famous artists and writers participated in this work. Since then, Shanghai has become a base for the development and prosperity of fine art films. The period from 1957 to 1966 was the heyday of fine art films. A hundred flowers bloomed, various forms were brought into full play, and the national style became more perfect and mature. Paper-cuts, origami, puppets, and ink films, a number of which are still Chinese fine art. The most outstanding work in the history of film has gained a reputation both at home and abroad, and has achieved the glory of the "Chinese School". These films have successively held "Fine Art Film Exhibitions" in eight major cities including Beijing and Shanghai, and have had a wide range of influences in the world.
From independence to development, Chinese comics can be said to run through the entire 20th century. In 1904, Shanghai's "Warning Bell Daily" published comics under the column of "Current Affairs Comics". This was the first time that the name "comic" appeared in Chinese newspapers. With the official publication of "Zikai Comics" and "Shanghai Comics", the name of the painting type "comic" was finally unified, and it quickly became popular in society and is still in use today. In 1979, the "People's Daily" comic supplement "Satire and Humor" was the first issue. Comic newspapers and magazines from various regions also came out. At the same time, comic societies and research associations were established in various regions. In 1982, the second National Comic Exhibition was held after more than ten years from the first exhibition. In 1984, as an independent type of painting, comics participated in the Sixth National Art Exhibition, marking the independence and maturity of comics as an art form in the new era.
In the process of animation development, it has made remarkable achievements. The early "Chinese School" actively explored the development path of Chinese animation in animation and comic art, insisted on carrying forward Chinese traditional culture, and created a large number of Chinese native style characteristics. Art work. At the moment, with the rapid development of social economy, the development of cultural industries has become a trend and awareness. From the policy orientation of the national government to the flow of social funds, the cultural industry has ushered in the best opportunity since the founding of the People’s Republic of China and is beginning to set sail. The first National Animation Art Exhibition will open in Guangzhou in December
In order to thoroughly implement the spirit of General Secretary Xi Jinping’s series of important speeches on literary and artistic work, and to further promote the prosperity and development of animation art, the Chinese Artists Association, the Propaganda Department of the Guangzhou Municipal Committee of the Communist Party of China, and the Guangzhou Federation of Literary and Art Circles co-sponsored the "First National Animation and Art Works" exhibition". The organizer revealed at a press conference held in Beijing that the content of the exhibition will focus on national style, Chinese style comics and original animation works, and the scope of submissions covers Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan for the first time. The exhibition is planned to be open to the public for free at the Guangdong Museum in mid-December 2017. The scope of the "First National Animation Art Exhibition" has been expanded to Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan. Any animation works created after the 12th National Art Exhibition in 2014 can be submitted. In recent years, Guangzhou’s animation art creation and industrial development have maintained a good momentum. As one of the most important animation consumer markets in China, Guangzhou is comparable to Beijing and Shanghai. The scale of the comics market ranks first in the country. It has produced a number of nationally renowned cartoonists, animation screenwriters, animation directors and other new forces, and their creative level is leading the country. In the 12th National Art Exhibition in 2014 alone, 13 animation works in Guangzhou were successfully selected, demonstrating Guangzhou's important position in the field of animation art in the country. The strong support of the policy environment, the frequent emergence of creative talents, and the strong demand in the consumer market have laid a solid foundation for the holding of the "First National Animation Art Exhibition" in Guangzhou.
